clefThe following information is for students entering college for the first time, and for students presently enrolled in a college or university who have yet to complete an undergraduate degree, and wish to transfer to a music degree program at USF.

Undergraduate Programs

The University of South Florida offers undergraduate degree programs in Music Performance, Music Education, Music Composition, Jazz Studies, and Electronic Music. In addition, the School of Music offers a Music Minor, and a degree in Music Studies, which can be combined with an additional program for a double major. For individual degree specifics click HERE.

Admission Procedures
Applying for acceptance into the School of Music is a separate procedure from University admissions, and is not contingent upon where you are in your University application process (you should not put off your audition until you are admitted to the University). Whether or not you have begun your application to USF, you will need to carefully read the following information and make the necessary arrangements for your audition. You must apply for acceptance into the USF School of Music if you are an incoming freshman, transfer student, or part-time student and plan to (1) major in any undergraduate music degree; (2) minor in music; or (3) take applied lessons as a non-major. The application procedure consists of (1) submitting the UNDERGRADUATE ONLINE AUDITION APPLICATION, and (2) successfully completing an audition. There are different audition requirements for each instrument. Click HERE for specific audition requirements for each instrument.

Audition dates for entrance in Fall 2010 are January 16, February 20 and March 20, 2010. Students auditioning during the January and February dates will be considered for a music scholarship. On the audition application please indicate the audition date of your choice. It is highly recommended you submit your application at least three weeks prior to your requested audition date. Audition days often fill up and audition times are filled as applications are received. If you wish to audition on more than one instrument you must submit a SEPARATE application for EACH instrument. School of Music auditions take place on the Tampa campus of the University of South Florida.

All students are strongly encouraged to submit up to three letters of reference from individuals that have first hand knowledge of their musical/personal background. References must use THIS form.

Please note that this audition is for acceptance into the School of Music - DO NOT APPLY FOR AN AUDITION TIME if you wish to simply perform in an ensemble. Separate auditions, which take place at the beginning of the fall semester, are required for placement in our music ensembles.

Details concerning University undergraduate admission proceduces can be found by clicking HERE.
