University of South Florida Percussion Ensemble

The University of South Florida Percussion and Marimba Ensembles are well known throughout the United States for their performances of new music and chamber repertoire. The ensemble has been featured at several local, regional and national conventions. In 2001, at the invitation of Korean Institute of Percussion Music, the USF Percussion Ensemble traveled to Seoul and performed in a weeklong percussion festival of new music by both Korean and American composers. Among the most recorded ensembles of its' genre, the group has received acclaim in many major journals including American Record Guide and Fanfare. The ensemble has also appeared as a regular guest of Tampa's Bonk Festival of the Avant-Garde and has been featured on several Bonk CD's. The USF Marimba Ensemble meets as a separate credit class and usually performs a more conservative repertoire including string quartet literature, rags, and original material. Professor Robert McCormick is especially proud of the many alumni that have gone on to develop significant careers in the percussion field. For further information contact: mccormic@arts.usf.edu
