John Posadas
A native of Henderson, KY, John T. Posadas first began violin studies at age four. At the age of 15, he won his first professional orchestra audition and continued his studies at the University of Kentucky, Rice University, and the Cleveland Institute of Music. An avid chamber musician, he has performed with many of the world’s leading artists including Edgar Meyer, Alex Kerr, Joseph Silverstein, Anton Nel, and members of the Cleveland, Muir, and Concord Quartets. Recitals have taken him across the country and abroad with appearances at the Kennedy Center, Severance Hall, Tanglewood, Aspen, Interlochen, Manchester Music Festival, the Juilliard School, Houston, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Ontario, Canada, and Las Galas Festival in Mexico. As a chamber musician, he has performed throughout the country garnering top prizes at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and the Chamber Music International Competition. He has performed extensively as violist with the Baumer Quartet, the Vinca Quartet, and the Kailas Quartet.
As an orchestral musician, John has performed under the baton of such luminaries as Seiji Ozawa, Kurt Masur, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Rafael Fruebeck de Burgos, and Charles Dutoit with the Houston Symphony, Houston Chamber Orchestra, the New World Symphony, and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra. He regularly performs with the Naples Philharmonic and the Sarasota Orchestra.
A strong advocate for music education and outreach, John has taught at the Cincinnati Conservatory Preparatory Program, organized a two week outreach residency in Hickory, NC, in conjunction with Chamber Music America and the Western Piedmont Symphony, and was recently the youngest member added to the chamber music faculty and the Resident Artist Series at the University of South Florida's school of music.
Season highlights include chamber music and solo appearances at Wilfred Laurier University in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Weikersheim, Germany, Deer Valley Music Festival in Park City, Utah, San Francisco, New York, and the Resident Artist Series at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL.
